Auckland Airport urges Kiwis to vote
Auckland Airport is calling on all Kiwis to vote in the SKYTRAX global airport survey, the results of which will determine the 10 best airports in the world as part of the 2012 SKYTRAX World Airport Awards. This year AKL was voted by travellers as the best airport in the Australia Pacific region for the third year running and the 8th best airport in the world – up from 9th in 2010 – out of a possible 500. It is the only airport from the Australia Pacific region to make the top-10
global list in the past three years.
RWC2011 has revealed tourism’s value
Rugby World Cup 2011 has graphically shown Kiwis the value of tourism to New Zealand’s economy, according to the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA). “For six weeks, communities around the country welcomed tens of thousands of international visitors. Often dressed in their team’s colours, they were highly visible, and were intent on having a great time. But what many people may not realise is that New Zealand routinely hosts this many people and
more during the peak summer months,” TIA chief executive Tim Cossar says. “While not every region or operator profited immediately from the tournament, the sheer volume and impact of fans in centres like Wellington and Auckland would have left candidates in the 26 November election in no doubt of the benefits international visitors deliver to our country.”

AUCKLAND, 23 Oct. – It is over. The 24-year drought since the All Blacks last won the Rugby World Cup has finally been broken with an 8-7 win over France at Eden Park. It was not the free-flowing, interlinking game that had seen off Australia in the semi-final but it was enough to end what has seemed like an eternity for a team that regularly sets the benchmark for rugby excellence.
